Wedding season is back again!  Check out below details on what to wear to different summer weddings.

Black Tie

“Though black–tie events necessitate a certain level of formality‚ that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative with convention. Sweeping gowns are no longer the rule: a flirty mini or a knee–length style punctuated by luxe accessories feels modern and fits the occasion.”  (I think the Met Gala is a clear definition of the shift that is happening nowadays from sweeping gowns to shorter hemlines.)

Laid Back Locale

“Outdoor or so-called “casual” weddings can be the most confusing of all to dress for. Keep the look playful and festive as opposed to overly formal or out–and–out glam. Airy fabrics accented by natural accessories fit the bill perfectly.”  (These are my favorite because you get the chance to be girlie, flirty, and truly summery!)

Tropical Destination

“More than just a great excuse to drink mojitos poolside‚ a wedding in the tropics is the ideal occasion to break out of the basic–black mold with a bold flower print. Neutral accessories provide balance and suit laid–back island style.” (Sahel weddings are fun because they allow you to experiment with colors and prints…but watch out for the HAIR!)

Totally Traditional

“While this look should err on the side of understated (and not show an excess of skin)‚ it doesn‘t mean you‘re limited to dowdy silhouettes in stiff neutrals. Jewel tones are sophisticated yet subtle‚ while inspired accessorizing showcases your personal style.” (This is probably what i usually opt to wear at most weddings).  Since i love black, i chose a black Karen Millen dress with structured shoulders (another big trend this season) as the dress I would wear to a traditional wedding.  The key to making a simple dress your own is by accessorizing correctly not only your accessories, but also your makeup and hair!
