When you blog about fashion, you have to tribute the ubiquitous little black dress which was first introduced in 1926 by one of the world’s fashion geniuses, Gabrielle ‘CoCo’ Chanel, the designer of ever-lasting, versatile, simple clothing flattering all shapes and sizes. The LBD transcends time and trends as the essential item in every woman’s wardrobe “it can always be thrown on and feel best dressed,” said Scarlett Johansson.
In 1926, the little black dress, unveiled in American Vogue was sneered by many critics mainly because black, at the time, was only worn when mourning. That all changed when women of all social classes started wearing this elegant yet sexy dress. From your average day women to celebrities and famous political figures, the LBD has survived more than 80 decades.

As promised, if you didn’t attend the highly awesome Loolies Fashion Show, I was going to keep you posted on what you’ve missed. 20’s music playing in the background, the adorable boutique was filled with attendees all dying to get their hands on the new fall/winter collection. The show comprised of a mix of local as well as global design talents with the likes of Manoush, Amina K, Touch Luxe, Bishette, Horreya, Hebz, and more. As always, Manoush was the highlight of the show, with my favorite being the silver sequined tank dress with floral embroidery throughout the bottom and a huge fatima hand on the back. The dress will probably be worn by me in my dreams tonight! Their Manoush collection also featured a fabulous white vest with gold embroidery and buttons, an off white half sleeved brocade coat with embellishments at the bottom and a black scarf with pastel colored fringes. The new Touch Luxe collection is quite fabulous for the fashion risk takers with a leopard printed vest with a reindeer on the back and an adorably feminine brown and pink cardigan. The collection featured many cute dresses whether sequined, embellished, frilled, or studded. As an accolade to winter, the collection also contained pretty coats from off white to canary yellow and then to grey and black. Bishette Bags are now available in store, as well as Hebz’s, Amina K’s, and el Horreya’s autumn/winter 09 collections!

Nejmah 1st Cairo Muse
Nejmah, a Greco spotting on friday afternoon, is the definition of style. As soon as I layed my eyes on her, I knew, she would be my 1st Cairo Muse. And she was excited to pose for me!! The cute confident star was rocking the look by mixing colors, prints, and textures. Her outfit is the definition of a perfect transition from summer to fall; from her short sleeved velour jacket, to the purple leggings, and printed rain boots. Did you notice the colorful gum ball bracelet and bright green hair clip! According to her mom, she dresses herself, so I can’t wait to see this young stylista grow up and be featured again as a Cairo Muse.
Class & Glamour’s 1st winter open house starts tomorrow.
Open house is from Oct. 21st til the 25th, from 12:30 to 8:30 pm.
