Soucha's Cool Cocktail Dress

There is nothing sweeter than finding a cool feminine cocktail dress.  I enjoy being a girl, sometimes that is!  As ladies, we have to face a lot of battles, so why don’t we enjoy one of the good things about being a girl, PLAYING DRESS UP.  I came across this fabulous feminine cocktail dress at Soucha’s Online Boutique.  I also think its on sale!  I love the sequined bra-top, very a la D&G.  The white and black lace-trimmed layered skirt is fun and feminine.  What do you think?

It is red carpet season and I cannot wait! The 2009 red carpets were pretty disappointing in my opinion and it looks like 2010 will be more exciting with the Golden Globes starting off with a major hit.  I will be posting my favorite red carpet dresses this season at the same time highlighting this year’s dress trends.  Take a cue from the red carpets!  You can get ideas for our never-ending wedding season.

PALE NUDES, ALL DIFFERENT SHADES OF PURPLE AND OF COURSE BLACK DOMINATED THE GOLDEN GLOBES BUT MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE WAS UNIQUE AND FABULOUS AND WORN BY MY FAVORITE FASHIONISTA, DIANE KRUGER.

Diane Kruger’s pink tulle bustier Christian Lacroix Haute Couture dress is just unusual and sometimes being unusual turns out to be dazzling, but it takes some risk.  Most of you might not like it but in my opinion, bottom line, Diane pulled the look off.

I’ll start with the pale nudes worn by many from Kate Hudson to Drew Barrymore.

Drew Barrymore wore an embellished nude Atelier Versace gown.  I love the shoulder and waist accents, just a tad bit futuristic.

Emily Blunt wore a simple but elegant baby pink tulle Dolce & Gabbana

Kate Hudson wore a white Marchesa, it isn’t my favorite at all, but you can never go wrong with Marchesa.

Slowly making a shift from the pale nudes into the shades of purple, Chloe Sevigny wore a fab ruffled lilac Valentino gown

Onto the orchid purple, Sandra Bullock pulled of a fabulous Bottega Venetta.  I love how people are coming to recognize the cool designs of Venetta

Onto the darker shade of purple, specifically plum, Rose Byrne wore a fabulous Lanvin.  I love her hair, accessories. and make up, they are the definition of simple elegance.

Onto the black dresses below are my two favorites.  I love Penelope Cruz’s Armani Prive and January Jones’ old school elegance in a ruffled Lavin.

Lastly, and this dress goes with no theme, but the crimson red and the fit looks absolutely stunning on Cameron Diaz.

It has been a while since I have posted an Item of the Week, but 2010 has proven to be more hectic than I imagined.  But today I came across a picture that excited me, being the classic girl that I am.  The classic white shirt transcends many decades, forms, and styles while yet remaining a classic white shirt.  I remember very well when GAP teamed up with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue to introduce a limited edition collection of the white shirt.  Then up and coming designers DOO.RI, Rodarte Duo, and Thakoon designed their take on the classic white shirt.

Well guess what?  Our up and coming designers, Horreya that is, which is a collection inspired by everything local decided to create their take on the classic white shirt.  When you wear this classic white shirt it takes you down the you can take me seriously yet stylish road.  To me, that is the most important impression I would want to portray.

Coming across this stunning Maissa Azab for Enigma December fashion spread there was only one thought that crossed my mind, “I wish I was a part of that shoot”.  Set in the all white Baxter Showroom, here in Cairo, I was impressed.  It has this lovely ‘old yet modern’ theme.  I love the furniture and the overall layout, but what was even classier were the party dresses worn by model Karla.  Everything from the concept, art decoration, and styling was Maissa Azab’s work.  Great job, this is by far my favorite Egyptian fashion spread.  Hope you like the spread just as much I did.
